April 16, 2004 -- Along with her puppet friends, children’s author Sandi Johnson will host the Dorp Express Musical Puppet Show at the Pasadena Strawberry Festival this year.

Johnson’s show will perform six times under the children’s pavillion throughout the weekend of May 14, 15 and 16. The times and themes are:
Friday - 7:30 p.m. “Pirates!” Saturday - 1:30 p.m. “Rockin’ 50’s”, 4:30 p.m. “Out West”, 7:00 p.m. “Alien Summer” Sunday - 2:00 p.m. “Fire Safety” , 4:30 p.m. “The Roaring 20’s”

Each theme will present its own special costumed characters like Bud the Dog with “Fire Safety” and Van Earp with “Out West.” Kids will get a chance to win prizes by competing in games and contests.

The puppet/variety show features original children’s music and puppets based on characters from over 40 books that Johnson has written for children since 1984.

The very first book, “Dorp the Scottish Dragon,” celebrates its 20th birthday this year, and will be for sale at a special reduced price for festival goers.

Future shows include another performance of the fire safety program at the Houston Galleria on May 22. For more information on future or past shows, including pictures and video clips, you can visit their website at www.dorpexpress.com/.
